Location
Its a little embarrassing to say, but this photo was taken in my overgrown backyard! We had been renovating our home inside and forgot about the lawn that week. Im glad I did now!Time
This was in the evening just before the sun started going down. It feels so calm and relaxing. Its a great time to get out and shoot. I do it often.Lighting
I love the glow of the sun as it just starts to go down. This day, it really seemed to bring out the beautiful color of the grass and bounce off the white "fluffs" in the breeze. I find the bokeh light effect effect is always such a wonderful addition to soft lit photos like this.Equipment
I used my trusty Nikon D7200 with my 60mm Nikkor macro lens. No tripods or anything, I was just lying on my stomach in the grass.Inspiration
My kids inspired me for this picture! I was watching them play outside with the dogs. They were all running around stirring up the Dandelions and having a great time. The fluff was everywhere so I had to seize the moment and get out there too!Editing
I added a little contrast to this image. I wanted the background a little darker so the fluff would "pop" a bit more.In my camera bag
At all times I have 3 lenses in my bag along with my Nikon D7200. I don't go anywhere without my 60mm macro, my Nikkor 18-140mm lens and my Nikkor 70-300mm lens. I find these keep me pretty well prepared for most situations that I find! I fly by the seat of my pants a lot and never know where I might end up for photos. This way, I'm confident I can always get a great shot.Feedback
Yes! Get down low to the ground. Get a little dirty... or a lot dirty! I like to have fun when I take pictures and get involved in many situations. There is always something special out there to photograph.... even in your long grassed, overgrown back yard. ;)
