After working for a company for almost 20 years, I was devastated and became very depressed when I was terminated from that job in 2011. I pretty much stopped doing what I normally enjoyed and became reclusive from family and friends. I began photography to remind me of however bad things may seem, I still have a lot to be thankful for. My photos are mostly of beauty that surrounds me: plants from my garden; my loving family and friends; adorable pets; beautiful places and/or moments; nature's beauty; anything and everything that I need to be thankful for and won't allow to be taken away by hardships and struggles.Editing
I am still learning and need to familiarize myself with the technical aspects of photography (i.e., lighting, aperture, color balance, types of lenses, etc.). Through the use of photoshop and/or other apps, I would slightly made adjustments in exposure, color and details until I got what I thought made the picture better without going overboard. In my camera bag
I don't have a bag and due to my current financial situation, I just have to make do with what I currently have. A good friend who encourages me to continue with photography kindly gave me his old Canon EOS 30D, another friend lends me his lenses to try out, and another friend gave me a Panasonic DMC-ZS40 as a birthday gift. I'm hoping to maybe get good enough and with the right photo maybe win a bag here in ViewBug or any of the nice, cool prizes on here.Feedback
Just a simple advice from this novice: Look around, if/when anything catches your eye, take that opportunity to take its photo, paying close attention to details, and color helps as well. I think that is why most of my photos are close-ups and macros, because of the details. My current circumstance has taught me to pay closer attention, look deeper, and also allow myself to look at and view things with a different perspective.
