Behind The Lens

Location

I took the photo in a park in Palencia, Spain, where I live. I love going with my camera to other cities and spend two or three days discovering the whole city.

Time

I went there at 6.00pm but the sun was high and I sat under a tree on the dried leaves and I started reading a book. Then I noticed that it was going dark and I looked at the sky and I saw this beautiful sunset.

Lighting

I had began taking photos a few weeks ago so I was trying to experiment with my camera, lens and filters. First I took the photo with an Hoya r72 infrared filter which allowed me to see clearly the sky but I didn't like it and I take a few shots without filters. It suddenly went dark and I had not take the photo I was loking for.

Equipment

I was a begginer and I used to carry everything with me but I relised that I didn't need everything I for these time I just got my heavy tripod and my camera and a wide angle lens because I wanted to take photos at night and at the sunset and I thought it was perfect.

Inspiration

That day I had been watching many amazing photos of some profesional photographers who had many photos but I liked so much photos of sunsets and I decided to went out and find my perfect sunset. I´ve learned photography reading articles throught internet and watching other's photos so before I went out I read some advices to take my photo and I went to do it.

Editing

As I have said I took some photos with an infrared filter and some other without it and I realised that the composition of one infrared photo was perfect but in other of the photos that I've taken without filter had perfect colours. When I went back home that night I began to learn how combine these photos and I get this photo as final result.

In my camera bag

Right now I'm going on long trips by car and I carry almost everything in the car but for short trips or hiking I just take my Nikon 7200 and a pair of lens, my tokina 11-16 wide angle which I love, and a nikkor 18-105. I usually play with long expositions so I have to carry my heavy tripod and some filters.

Feedback

You will learn that the perfect photography is anywhere but sometimes you will not see it, or just being lucky. When I go out, I look fast on everything but, having pacience when I take every photo. To grow as photographer just read about, learn from others, try new things and then share it with others to get advice and learn of it.
