Just 15km north of Hualien, inside Taroko National Park, lies Taloko Gorge (Tàilǔgé), Taiwan’s top tourist destination.

The park covers over 120, 000 hectares and rises from sea level in the east to over 3700m further west. The blue-green Liwu River cuts through the centre, forging deep slitted valleys and ravines before emptying into the sea.

Note: Lonely Planet spells Taloko with an R instead of an L. But unless the they changes the spelling since 1985, I got my spelling right off an english sign in the park describing the gorge.

These scenes are from my visit to Taloko Gorge in Taiwan in 1985. All images were taken with a Nikon F3HP and Ekatchrome slide film. No other data was recorded. The slides were scanned with my Epson Perfection V700 flatbed scanner and SilverFast Archive Suite. The resultant 48 bit color images were further processed in Capture NX2.3.1 64 bit. Edit 4-10-16 file reprocessed in PSCS6 Extended using Picture Postcard Workflow.
