A group of zebras is called a dazzle, likely due to the optical trickery a group of them can play on the eye. When grouped together they create an optical illusion similar to a moiré pattern. This makes it nearly impossible to make out a single individual, especially if you are a horsefly or tsetse fly - notorious pests that can transmit numerous diseases. The dazzle shown here is currently scouring the parched grasslands of southern Ethiopia for something edible.
