This is a male gelada that managed to usurp an older, more dominant male. Usually a bloody and vicious fight (sometimes to the death) this one was more like a silent coup with the older male giving up within minutes and surrendering his entire harem of females. The exceptionally huge canines and cryptic personality of this new male inspired me to name him Nosferatu. He ruled his new harem of females for only 2 months before being usurped by yet another male. This time however, the new guy allowed Nosferatu to stay in the family group and the two formed an unlikely and strange friendship. They were inseparable so long as Nosferatu didn't bat a single eye at the females that were once his own.
