In the category tack sharp, pretty astounding shot here, and with the XG-1, neat zoom on that camera

Location
Photo was taken in Sarasota, Florida in a field adjacent to the Celery Fields, a wildlife preserve and storm water management system owned by Sarasota County.Time
Usually, mid-day is not a good time for photographing anything in Florida, but this young Red-shouldered hawk didn't care. Perched on a fence post in an empty field for a fair amount of time, he didn't move as I was able to get fairly close.Lighting
A bright, cloudless Florida day. A good thing the subject wasn't bothered by me getting in position to minimize the shadows of the mid-day sun. Instead, the bright light brought out the beautiful colors and minute details of this magnificent creatureEquipment
This was shot with a Pentax XG-1; Aperture f/4.4?ISO 100?Shutter 1/750?Focal Length 1289/10?Handheld. This camera was always with me in the car in case shots like this appeared, but was not my usual equipment.Inspiration
I happened to drive by this hawk just perched on the fence post. I stopped a short ways away and he literally posed for me to take as many shots as I wanted. I was able to circle the post and get multiple angles, but this view was just spectacular, every feather and color sharp.Editing
This photo was just cropped. No additional processing was necessary. In my camera bag
I normally travel with a Nikon D500 with a Sigma 150-600mm 5-6.3 DG HSM OS Contemporary lens for birding and wildlife. I used to carry a Nikon B700 as a back-up and just in case camera for wide angle shots, but now I carry a Nikon Z50 with a Tamron 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 DI-II VC HLD lens as an excellent "second" camera for wide angle and shots that don't require a fast shutter. The Pentax-XG-1 was a short lived bridge until I purchased the B700. I find both of these camera excellent for the subject matter that I usually photograph (birds and wildlife in remote areas as well as locally)Feedback
You just need a little luck to have a subject pose for you like this with no distractions, or branches or other objects that usually get in the way of raptors in the wild.
