Location
A few years ago the snow was so deep we spent a few weeks not able to go anywhere by car. Walking the mile to our village, Bellingham Northumberland UK, to stock up on essential supplies I found these trees just over a rise.Time
It was early afternoon.Lighting
The sky was only slightly darker than the snow which made the starkness of the trees more pronounced.Equipment
I used my Canon 5D mk2, handheld.Inspiration
I was struck by the three intricate shapes. Three different species of tree standing side by side oulined by the slate sky, the subtle shading of their branches bringing depth to an otherwise sterile setting.Editing
Apart from some tufts of grass in the foreground which I smoothed over this picture is full colour as taken. In my camera bag
I usually travel light and have a small backpack lined with an old Russian style hat to protect my camera, a spare battery, and a soft cloth to clean the lense.Feedback
I almost always have my camera with me. The only way I can catch the images I am lucky enough to see is through getting out of the car and letting my dog try to keep me fit.
