Behind The Lens

Location

while vacationing in the Dominican Republic. we had made a very short unscheduled stop after a Day trip....we only had 30 minutes to swim or explore... I looked up and decided to take pictures instead lol

Time

afternoon 3-4 pm

Lighting

when we got down to the beach I noticed that there was a HUGE storm front moving through the area. The wind from the storm caused the enormous cloud formations.

Equipment

Handheld Olympus TG4

Inspiration

Due to an extreme Storm that passed by, the sky was filled with these Magnificent rapidly changing cloud formations . I almost gave up waiting for an interesting formation in the clouds....glad I did!

Editing

no post processing. only used an "in camera" filter for "Dramatic Tone" just one of the many effects/filters and modes availble on board the camera itself.

In my camera bag

I carry my TG4, a macro ring light(it has a macro setting), a telephoto lens (not really sold on it yet) charger plus a small flexible tripod. its perfect for vacations. The whole kit, could literally fit in your pockets lol. the camera is a compact yet powerful tool. With it's on board array of filters and modes, coupled with its physical attributes makes it easy to unleash your creativity, spontaneity and still take great quality shots effortlessly... its capable of capturing amazing images. Its usually with me where ever I go and my style of late is to take photos "off the Hip" or "snaps" as i lovingly call them...random spontaneous "fun" images....its quite satisfying.....!!!

Feedback

The best advice I can offer others is keep your eyes open, be patient and don't be afraid to try different angles and heights/filters to capture that "Unique" moment. and for landscapes especially don't forget the sky/cloud formation can be just as important... "low and wide "angles are my favorite types of landscape shots, especially with an awesome cloud formation...but what do I know...that is what's so great about our art...there is no "one Way" to capture our photographic visions...thank goodness!!!
