Very nice photo, I think that what you should of done though is make it so all of those small lanterns were behind the big ones just too make it more realistic if you know what i mean. Beautiful photo though :D

I would have liked it if you didn't add all of the photo shopped lanterns. It's distracting from the moment.

Location
The photo was taken in Polomolok, South Cotabato, Philippines. The the beautiful birthplace place of Arnaldo Gonzaga Jr.'s wife.Time
The wedding started in the afternoon then after that we went in the reception. Some rituals were done in the reception and at around 5:35 in the afternoon the couple signaledl the lighting of the lanterns. Then there was a fire dancing after the lighting of this lantern. It was really dramatic since almost each one of the people who attended had their chance to hold one of these lantenrs. Some lantern went well but some others people have hard time to light their lanterns.Lighting
It was tough for me, I was trying to include the people around but I know the couple are the most important focus in my photo. Once I started focusing the light I made the people disappear because they became dark. I did not use flash so I used the largest aperture which was f/2.8 and I just handheld the camera so I need a faster shutter which was 1/320 and I used the ISO of 3200. Using my 1DX was my best choice of camera because it helped me in low light situation. I positioned myself to capture both faces of the bride and the groom. All lighting were natural lighting.Equipment
I used my canon EOS 1DX, Canon EF24-70mm f/2.8 II USM.Inspiration
Arnaldo Gonzaga Jr. is a son of my best friend Susa Gonzaga who happened to be my co-teacher when I was teaching in Davao City, Philippines. He is her eldest kid and of course the couple made me as their Godmother and my husband is Godfather too, so who could not resist in taking their photos. Hahahahaha however I want to test my skills too. Most of all I want to acquire more experience in taking photos of a very rigid situation. Wedding is just like taking photos of wildlife. You cannot tell the priest, "Priest can you repeat it because I was not able to capture it!" You are there to properly document the events from the moment the bride is about to wear her wedding gown, leaving the house, on the way to the church...and until they will go to their honeymoon. For me, there is no retake of those moments. So the experience I had in those particular event will better my being a photographer. And aside from that, I rendered my services as gift to the new couple.Editing
Yes, I honestly tell you that I photoshopped some of the lanterns in this capture besides from the actual capture. I have photos that I only clean the scratches or blemishes but there are photos that I photoshopped and this is one of those photos. After all that is one of the purposes why you bought software. I created this image based yo my vision. I know that wedding is supposed to be happy and putting all those lanterns will even make the image more happy than just few lanterns. I based my vision with how the couple feel during the moment when the priest said to the groom, "You may now kiss the bride!" I saw the blinking of their eyes, I felt the beats of their hearts. That is how I processed my image. In my camera bag
I always bring my 2 cameras, one is my main camera and the other one is my back up camera of course with 2 lenses depending on what type of image I want to capture for example if I am planning to capture birds I will mount my Canon lens EF 800mm f/5.6 IS USM from the time I leave the house and my canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II USM in my 5DS. However, if I am planning to capture an infrared, I will bring with me my 5D MII infrared converted camera. I also bring canon Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3, Manfrotto Tripod, and my BEGH2C Carbon Fiber Head, and GIT203 Grand Series2 Stealth Carbon Fiber Tripod.Feedback
"He/she who fails to plan, plans to fail!" Always plan your shooting. In your planning you can include what type of image you want to capture, is it landscape, wildlife, people, pets, astrophotography and etc. Then ask yourself what do you want to capture if it is landscape for example so you can scout for the location, do you want to include people? Or if it is wedding you need to have the list of the possible gear you will used during your shooting. What if your camera will not work, so have your back up camera or if you don't have back up camera ask one of your friends who have camera to be there so you can ask him/her in case your camera does not work. In wedding you will probably use lighting, so you can bring some usable lightings and have the lightings already organized 1 day before the wedding. Since it is a wedding you need to include where do you want to position yourself so you will not disturb the solemnity of the wedding. I observed a lot of photographers who don't know where to position themselves during the actual wedding and ended up disturbing the sanctity of the ceremony. Some photographers are becoming the center of attention in the sedding because they do not position themselves in a place where they don't get attention so much. Just remember, "It is their wedding!" You can bring also flash they are helpful in the low light situation.
