Behind The Lens

Location

Believe it or not this picture was taken in my backyard looking into my neighbors' front yard. I was experimenting with my Samsung tablet's camera and enjoying the beauty of the first snowfall of the winter back in November 2015. It was cloudy when I started my photo adventure when suddenly the clouds parted and the snow covered trees in my neighbor's yard started to glisten. I walked to my back fence and the icy snow covered lamp post and gazebo scene reminded me of Narnia in the "Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe". It was a breathtaking view that became one of my most magical winter pictures that I've ever taken.

Time

This picture was taken at about 3:30 pm as the sun was nearing sunset.

Lighting

I guess this is an example of nature awarding me with a burst of the perfect lighting just prior to sunset.

Equipment

I almost hate to say that this photo was taken with the camera in my Samsung tablet.

Inspiration

I was sitting at my kitchen table enjoying the view of the first snow of the winter when I got the urge to walk out on the deck with my tablet and snap a few freshly fallen snow pictures. It was truly one of those serendipitous moments of the clouds parting to reveal a magical winter scene.

Editing

I don't think I did anything to the photo at all.

In my camera bag

Currently I just take photos with my cell phone.

Feedback

I find that I get the best natural lighting in late afternoon in the spring and fall. I think that the angle of the sun at those times of the year and that time of day put most objects or scenes in their best light.
