I wanted to share a photo of our resident flock of wild turkeys. They live in the bush up behind our home. They don't come around to often unless the sun is out and they are out enjoying the warmth that is radiating up from the ground.
With winter here, they have gone much deeper into the bush to find more fir trees and places they can keep warm.
This is only part of the flock. It is about 3 times this size, however, by the time I realized they were outside and I grabbed my iphone, most of them had already headed back into the bush.
Most of this flock is made up of first year turkeys, a couple of 2 year old turkeys and 2 distinctive pairs of adults. For whatever reason, there are only 2 groups or families flocking together here. Perhaps there were still more up in the bush that didn't want to venture out into the warm sun. By next year, this group should be considerably larger once all the new babies are born and I hope to be able to get a glimpse of all the new little ones in the spring.
