Meet Peaches. She is a 28-year-old Moluccan Cockatoo that we rescued when she was 8 years old. Because Peaches is a chronic picker, we have had to leave a collar on her, but, when I remove it so she can preen the rest of her feathers she gets panicky and stresses out. The quicker I can get the collar back on her the happier she is. Besides, if she is chewing her collar, she isn't chewing at herself. She is a very happy and quite silly bird and can talk up a storm. She laughs like I do and will definitely tell me off if she doesn't like something that I'm doing or saying. As you can see here, I havge become her chosen mate and she will curl up to me as often as possible and snuggle in and have a nap. Peaches is a very loving bird to those she likes, but if she doesn't like you or if someone gets to close to me, she will lash out at that person quite quickly. If she wanted to she could take your finger off, but she has learned that she is to behave or she will go back to her cage. Fortunately for me, Peaches is also cage trained and has very seldom messed anywhere other than her cage.
