This still life was created to celebrate Advent 2015. The quote on the note is accredited to Oswald Chambers. I opted not to include glasses as most book still life compositions have. Instead the hand printed note and accompanying pencil help one feel the components exist as part of someone’s daily life.

Advent is a spiritual journey that Christians take, through the truths of Scripture that point to the birth of the Messiah, to a reaffirmation that he has come, is present in the world today and will come again in glory.

We in America miss so much of the blessing that the Advent season has to offer. This year, may we embrace the vision of holy preparation, so that when Dec 25th dawns, we will be ready to receive Christ in the feast the "Winter Pascha" of Nativity.
