This photo is of my granddaughters dog Freckles, he is 14 years young. In this composition he is attempting his great lawn lion pose. The white German Shepard gives this old dog his way. Freckles is a wire haired terrier with a touch of chow and we know this because of his purple tongue.

The breed “Golden Weasel” was designated to this dog when he was just a puppy because the granddaughters thought the world of him. We just could not bring ourselves to tell the girls he was just a mutt. The time a man asked what kind of dog he was and they proudly told him he was a “Golden Weasel” caused a very questioning look on his face, at the same time he looked to us for an explanation. We could not reply as we were locked in joyful belly laughter. This funny episode has made a story we retell at every family gathering. We are thankful to still have this mutt in our lives.

Thanks! He is very long lived and very special mutt. He does have the personality to pull off this Lawn Lion Pose. This may be my best animal portrait.
