"Hollywood is a place where they'll pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul"
Marilyn Monroe's career as an actress spanned 16 years. She made 29 films, 24 in the first 8 years of her career.
Born as Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles General Hospital, her mother, Gladys, listed the fathers address as unknown. Marilyn would never know the true identity of her father.
So what size was Marilyn Monroe actually? Luckily, many of her dresses, carefully preserved, are still around to measure off of. Further, one of her dress makers also chimed in with exact measurements he took. Those measurements were 5 ft. 5.5 inches tall; 35 inch bust; 22 inch waist (approximately 2-3 inches less than the average American woman in the 1950s and 12 inches less than average today); and 35 inch hips, with a bra size of 36D.

I had no idea she was so vertically challenged, thinking back maybe that is why she was not photographed with a taller person. Great black and white photo!

Thanks she was wonderfully pretty. I rather like this composition as it really is a reflection of her life as it played out to the end
