I captured this moment in time out of pure admiration. To see another Photographer in their element in the most beautiful spot it only felt right to capture it. The irony of nature and angles. The colours, the composition.

So this is what I saw, through my viewfinder, a Photographer photographing the same scenery as I, and I could only imagine what they can see through theirs. I remember reading an article about 2 Photographers taking a shot of the same thing but both images were different and absolutely breathtaking. So, I guess that is where my inspiration came from. To share this moment with someone special, and we both have different recollections of this very moment, but we are both in the exact same place.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on my tiki tour with my cousin who has visiting from Australia. This was taken on an island next to Mount Mauou. We are both photographers who focus on the purity of images through natural movement, especially in people.

Time

This image was taken in the afternoon, the sun was beaming rays of heat at the end of Spring. I didn't have a tripod so I tried my best to achieve an even landscape. I took this photo kneeling down to the subjects level.

Lighting

I did not have any intentions for this image, as this photo was taken with spontaneity, I used natural lighting for this image and focused more on the post-production process on the image to achieve my desired effect.

Equipment

This was taken on a Canon EoS600D, with an 18-55mm lens.

Inspiration

Spontaneity inspired me to take this image. I was searching around my surroundings with my eyes, trying to find a winning shot. I found it staring right in my lens. A photographer finding their 'winning shot'. I love the thought of not knowing what is through her lens, capturing a moment in time of focus, the angles of her arms to position her camera, immersing herself in the same atmosphere as I, yet capturing something completely different. That is what I love about this photo, we are both in the same place, but our photography styles will capture a different angle.

Editing

I didn't do a lot of post-processing. Most of my images are just light correction and removing blemishes. My camera had bits of dust in it, which really affected the image, so I had to blend those. I saturated the colours of the water, the rocks and her t-shirt by selecting them separately and adding my desired level of saturation and brightness. I prefer to keep my images as close to the original as possible, only emphasising specific elements whether it be colour, shape, line, tone etc depending on the image.

In my camera bag

I carry my Canon EoS600D with my 18-55mm lens and my 55-250mm lens, my battery charger and my SD Card. My tripod will stay in a separate bag.

Feedback

If I could recommend anything for Photographers out there, work your surroundings. Use them to your advantage. I believe that the best images start as a canvas for creative ideas to create amazing images in the post production. If you don't have the lighting you are looking for, try and adapt your angles so that you can edit them in post-production later. If colour is your thing, change your iso on your camera etc. I find that trying to force yourself to find a pre-conceived idea in your images can make you miss beautiful photographs.
