I captured this photo in the late afternoon not far from the pond. We found this lovely blooming tree.Lighting
The lighting was all natural except the small amount of fill flash I used with my speed light.Equipment
The camera was a Nikon D3100 with a 50mm lens. I also had a platinum brand flash attached.Inspiration
Actually, my wife spotted the pretty tree while we were near the pond which inspired us both. The paint/makeup was done by Samantha Buchanan who also modeled it.Editing
I made some basic light adjustment in Lightroom and cleaned up Samantha's face a little in Photoshop but nothing major.In my camera bag
I always carry my 50mm lens, kit lens, 55-200mm telephoto, and 85mm Micro lens. They are all Nikon as is my D3100 camera. I also have a couple filters and cleaning tools.Feedback
Honestly having a great makeup artist and model is really important to this shot. The lighting was a bit brighter than I prefer so I used the shade of the tree to soften it. I also used fill flash to avoid dark shadows on her face. I was able to minimize my post processing by paying attention to the details when I took the shot.
