Location
From a secluded, remote and breathtakingly beautiful honeymoon retreat, looking out over the west coast of northern California; Big Sur. The accommodation is entirely off-grid and the only sounds and distractions were from the wildlife and rapid clicking of my shutter.Time
At the end of a glorious October day, we watched the sun slowly setting, peeking in and out of the clouds as it almost dissolved into the Pacific ocean.Lighting
The trees at the top and natural coastline in the bottom of the picture provided the most sublime framing for the shot but I can take little credit as the view was almost entirely created by the people who built the accommodation in this location.Equipment
Nikon D90, 18-105mm lens and nothing else.Inspiration
To some this will be a cliche but I wanted to capture the peace and tranquility of being away from the hustle and bustle of normal life. I'd also have to say that out of the 3,000 or so honeymoon photographs, this is one of my favourites ...Editing
Absolutely none; the success may be down to beginners luck!In my camera bag
Just the Nikon D90 with the 18-105mm lens and a fixed 35mm. I usually stick with the 35mm because I have a degenerative condition that means I can't carry much weight for very long.Feedback
Framing a sunset can create a wow factor but sometime the colours alone (maybe with a little cloud to create even more colour-based drama) are enough so don't be afraid to exclude any silhouettes or framing completely and let the variation of colours create the interest.
