Behind The Lens

Location

Kailua beach on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.

Time

It was so long ago but luckly I remember a semi cloudy but windy day at 2pm.

Lighting

Sunlight as my main light and the white sand and a white reflector to fill in the shadows worked perfectly.

Equipment

My first DSLR camera the Nikon D5000 with that cheapo 18-55 kit lens, lol. Who knew a nice clean photo would come out of that combo?

Inspiration

New camera and had to get out and shoot. My friend was willing to help model for me and batabingbataboom.

Editing

Believe it or not I was not using photoshop at this time... Corel! I can hardly believe it myself. That program served me well in my beginning years of photography. I didn't care that I was getting teased for it. I thought people were just jealous lol.

In my camera bag

Since this photograph, I have upgraded to a Nikon D750 full frame and mainly use the 20-120 lens. It's my in between all the other lens that just works.

Feedback

Sun to your subjects backs, use a reflector with a color that compliments the skin tone, not changes it!. Make it windy.
