Location
As a new venture for my photography company I wanted to take some new boudoir photographs for the portfolio and website. My friend was nice enough to volunteer and I'm so happy she did! This was taken in a beautiful modern hotel suite in Irving, Texas.Time
The goal was for a big natural light source to fill the room with mid to afternoon daylight.Lighting
Making sure that I had a south facing room with this awesome large window all the natural light bouncing off the light concrete walls was nice and soft but I still wanted a little more light on her face so I added a strobe on the lowest power setting. Just enough to not overpower any of the backlighting.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D5000 in RAW with a 50mm lens wide open. A 800watt strobe for some fill light and a reflector just in case.Inspiration
I wanted to offer my brides a package that included a boudoir session with a peek-a-boo book as a wedding gift to their fiance'. It's been a big hit ever since!Editing
Not too much was done to this image other than color grading and a tiny bit of skin retouching. I was very proud that little had to be done.In my camera bag
Now I photograph with a Nikon D750 full frame which has been a dream for the last year! Never leave my house without the nifty 50mm lens, a prism for creative shots and my Smove Gimbal for youtube videos of behind the scenes.Feedback
Never compromise on the location. Location, location, location! Because of the big window behind the model all this gorgeous light spilled into the room to give me soft beautiful light. Find a location with a big window, simple features nothing cluttered and a big bed. The bigger the bed the bigger the room should be to accommodate longer focal lengths and get the smooth bokeh.
