This photograph was taken inside a friends vape shop.Time
Because this was taken inside a vape shop next to some BIG windows I was able to photograph some with natural light but also like in this photo use some strobe lighting for a butterfly effect.Lighting
It was my first attempt to try butterfly light. Let me tell you I am in love with this lighting! I may never take another headshot without doing this technique.Equipment
My camera at the time was the Nikon D5000 I have since upgraded to the D750 which I love!. The Nifty fifty was my lens of choice. Just one 800 White lightning with a modifier and because I forgot a cord I had rigged a white reflector underneath to achieve the butterfly effect.Inspiration
Another friend of mine was wanting to do something like this with candy very badly. It had been raining here in Texas for weeks and we were all BORED! So a few calls later, some candy, honey and other assorted sweets. This shot was created.Editing
Not as much went into this photograph post-process, just a little skin retouching, manually in photoshop. Yes it took 2 hours but the finished result was exactly what I had envisioned. In my camera bag
Since upgrading my equipment from when this photo was taken, I now photograph with a Nikon D750 full frame! So happy about that. A few more white lightning strobes, CheetahStand.com modifiers which are the best in my opinion and props, oh the props I currently own. lolFeedback
If you have an idea just try it. Succeed or fail, it doesn't matter. You tried something out and hopefully learned something you didn't know before.
