Location
This photo was taken in Somero Finland.Time
It was late in the Autumn evening.Lighting
Clear night sky is essential to get the best picture of the milkyway.Equipment
This photo was taken with Nikon D610 and Samyang 14mm in a tripod. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I was looking for places to take milkyway pictures for my night photography exhibition. I was first seeking potential places on the map and noticed that here is potentially a tree alley next to fields opening to a right direction for getting the milkyway completely. And wow, it did deliver!Editing
I did the post-processing with photoshop by stitching together 10 vertical photos. Then enhancing the colors to get the stars as visible as possible. In my camera bag
I carry nowadays Nikon D810 with Nikon 14-24 and Nikon 24-70 lenses.Feedback
Try finding something intresting in the foreground. Light polution is a big problem so try to find locations as rural as possible. Look at light polution maps and then satellite images in order to find potential places. I also use Stellarium app at home to figure out the best timing to take my photo. With those tools you can plan your shot pretty far without leaving your desk. Then at location you can use mobile app to see where the wilky way currently is in order to find the right angle for your picture.
