Behind The Lens

Location

Vic is a Brixham character, every year there is a Pirate Festival in Brixham and I like to go down every year to get pictures of all the different people dressed up and watch the parade.

Time

The parade starts at 10am, I like to go down about 9am to get the images of the people milling around.

Lighting

I was looking to get an image that I could make high contrast or HD, I felt this worked for this image.

Equipment

This was shot with A Nikon D3200 I think I used my 55-300lens, so that I could get close shoylts without being intrusive.

Inspiration

All the pirates make such a great effort with their costumes and accessories and I love being in the throng of it and noone minding you taking their photo.

Editing

As I had wanted this one to be high contrast, I edited it changing it to black and white and doing an HD treatment, I didn't want to over process it so I hope I managed to achieve a good balance.

In my camera bag

For this street photography, I don't carry around lots of kit, just keeping the one lens on and going with it.

Feedback

My first year of going down to take photos I was quite cautious and worried about sticking my camera it people's faces, but in this situation it is actually people like, I still feel that you should still be respectful though, especially as children are in attendance, you don't want to just stand there and be creepy.
