2015. Pigeon Point Lighthouse. More trying my hand at seascapes. I'm also experimenting with negative space with this image. I wanted the negative space to tell some sort of story and liked the idea of using the massive storm cloud to show the power of nature through its scale juxtaposed with the scale of the lighthouse. The lighthouse is really just a tiny thing humans have made in the attempt to protect sailors from nature. I was originally going to give the rocks on the bottom right a little more breathing room, but I've decided I like the tension they create. I like the feeling that if you stepped into the scene, you'd feel you would instantly step on sharp rocks.
