2012. One of my camera club's special subjects was Hats. The one type of thing we most definitely have around this house is hats--fedoras, driving caps, top hats, jester hats, Renaissance hats, baseball hats and so on. At our last house, we even made a wall of hats to store them all. This special subject should be easy, right? Problem was we didn't have easy access to or time to create good settings for those hats. The settings we had the easiest access to were rangeland or farmland. Out of all those hats, what we didn't have was a cowboy hat. Luckily, my father-in-law has this neat rancher's style beaver pelt hat that he let me borrow. I grabbed my dad's work gloves and went for a drive. My husband and I meandered along through a couple of locations I wanted to try out with the plan of getting to Telegraph Road (Telegraph City) outside of Copperopolis at sunset where this was taken. The title acknowledges the day’s end with the arrival of sunset, but also hints at the true life of a rancher or farmer whose work never really ends.
The corral in the back is said to be the remains of the foundation of a general store from the copper minning community that was here around 1860.
