Behind The Lens

Location

this photo was taken in Dubai from the first observation deck of the Burj Khalifa (back in 2013 there was only 1 observation deck)

Time

this one was taken about 21.15 local UAE time

Lighting

I wanted to use the streetlights as only lighting

Equipment

my camera was a Canon 50D and the lens I used was a Sigma 17-70 mm 1:2.8-4 macro HSM

Inspiration

first I wanted to create a memory, but once on the observation deck I was surprised by the amount of colors in that specific desert night and I was in awe of the height... over 1200ft , normally only birds and planes are on this altitude

Editing

I used Picasa by Google to enhance the light a bit, but that's all

In my camera bag

normally I carry my canon 50d and 350d a sigma 17-70 and a Tamron 18-200 now adays it's a Canon 80D , a Canon 17-40, a Canon 24-105 and a Canon 70-200

Feedback

if you want to get a great nightshot, make sure you have a steady underground where you can rest your hand as steady as possible(or use a tripod ) your aperture a low as possible (as low as the lens allows you) and a long shuttertime .and if you use a tripod, use the delayed action shutter to avoid any cameramovement ;-]] F/stop 2.8 , shuttertime 1/8 second (longer without a tripod is really hard) and ISO1600(my specs) and determine witch light source you want to use e.g. streetlight, stars, moon, buildings etc
