Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on my kitchen table. I am a member of multiple photography groups on social media and one of the daily contest was for jewelry. So I brought my necklace tree out and started shooting.

Time

I believe it was late afternoon that I took this photo.

Lighting

I have a large window in my kitchen that lets in a lot of natural light, so it was perfect for the photo

Equipment

This was taken with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTI which I shot with for years. I have since upgrade to a Canon 80D and love it. I have several Canon "L" series lens and I love these lens. They are the absolute best. I tell people all the time that your money is well spent with purchasing top quality glass/lens.

Inspiration

My intent was to be creative to enter a photo contest for jewelry.

Editing

I'm a what you see is what you get photographer. I do minimal post-processing. I might tweak the contrast a little, etc...

In my camera bag

My camera bag contains my Canon 80D, a Canon wide angle 17-40mm "L" series lens, a Canon 24-105mm "L" series lens, a point and shoot Canon waterproof camera, a small tripod, extra SD cards, spare batteries, lens cleaner, pad and pen to take notes.

Feedback

When trying to take macro photos the closer you can get is a given, but you need to be able to focus with clarity. Ensure sure you can get good lighting behind your subject. I used a large window for natural light, but you could definitely use artificial lighting to get your desired effect too. Use a large aperture, I used f5.6 to get the milky bokeh in the background.
