Doves and pigeons are so hard to get close to, I know! I have chased a few myself, and only managed distant shots. Kudos for getting this close. I love the feather detail and the two little faces. My doves nest is so high up in a tree, Id never be able to see the babies. Fantastic shot and thanks for sharing!

I live in the 10th largest city in the US, San Jose. Yet we have wildlife all around us. In this case, I have a very small elmon tree in my back yard, actually not really a true lemon as it is a myer lemon that looks more like an orange. The morning doves are in our neighborhood, and you can often hear their call. So when moma decided to build a nest in the crook of my lemon tree, I was quite surprised. So I kept everyone out of my back yard for a few months. I put a step ladder outside near the tree. My only lenses at the time were manual focus, held over from my F3HP days. I tried to stay as far away as I could and still fill the screen. I did not want the bird to abandon the nest. The result was a number of images like these. The bigger birds like the Egrets and geese are only less than 10 minutes from the area where my tract home is.
