Location
This was shot on the Canterbury Plains on the South Island of New Zealand heading west towards Arthur Pass.Time
It was mid-afternoon, we had just left from a short rest stop in the town of Springfield.Lighting
Not for this shot. I had to shoot this more or less on the go since I was with a group.Equipment
Shot using a Canon 60d with the 75-300mm EF lens.Inspiration
First time seeing mountains like these, rising straight up out of the plains like that, just really amazed me.Editing
This was shot in color but it seemed to lack something, as soon as I flipped it to B&W I knew that was the way it should be. After that, a little bit of contrast and shadow adjustment was all it needed. In my camera bag
I recently upgraded to a Canon 7d mkII and use the ef-s 18-135mm that it came with mostly. I also carry a ef-s 10-18mm wide angle in the bag. While it won't fit in my gear bag, I usually have my Sigma 150-500mm close by.Feedback
I'm really not the one to ask for advice from. I'm still learning myself. Although I will say in general keep shooting, learn your camera and what the settings do and practice, practice, practice.
