Location
This photo was taken in Hoosier National Forest on my very first camping trip.Time
The best part of my trip was getting up early every morning to take advantage of the sun coming through the trees in the morning.Lighting
The lighting is really what makes this photo come alive and creates movement when you look at the contrast created between the sun and the tree in front of it. Then you notice the depth from the rays that are angled out in front of all the other trees. I've also been told that the lighting causes people feel a sense of peacefulness or spirituality from this photo.Equipment
Fujifilm FinePix Camera, no tripod or flash used.Inspiration
I was inspired by the quiet, undisturbed beauty of the forest. The rays coming out through the trees early in the morning felt like it held emotion and I wanted to capture the peaceful moment away from all the city life I'm used to.Editing
I changed the photo to black and white because I feel that shows the texture better. You are not noticing the color but instead the shapes, lines, angles. Also, the contrast showed nicely in black and white between the sun and the tree in front of it.In my camera bag
I always have my Fujifilm FinePix camera. For some time now it has been the only camera I use. It always captures the brightness of colors extremely well.Feedback
My advice to capture something similar is to find a place where the sun will have multiple sizes of trees to hide behind, take your time with letting the sun come up and walking to different areas and at different distances from the trees. The key is having patience and waiting to see what the sun is going to show you that day. Based on the weather you could get something different to work with on any given day so I'd also advise seeing what you can capture on more than one occasion.
