This photo was taken in Clearfield, UT. I took my camera along to a gathering on the lawn of my church to watch the Fourth of July fireworks.Time

This was my first or second time trying my hand at aerial photographs. I did a small bit of reading before I went out to take the photos. I don't recall where I started, but found a recommended setting to start with and used trial and error. I tried to find a good balance between everything being too dark and too many bright spots. I wanted to be able to see the silhouette of the tree in order to add a little more interest.Equipment
Camera Canon EOS 50D Lens Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Focal Length 50.0 mm (79.2 mm in 35mm) Aperture f/22 Exposure Time 10s (10) ISO 100 I also used a tripod and a shutter bulb to take the photo. At one point, I was able to guess about how long to hold the button through trial and error. It wasn't a perfect method, but I did get a few good shots like this one.Inspiration
I love fireworks photos, so I wanted to try my hand. I read that it was a good idea to have something in the photo besides just the fireworks, so when I set up and saw trees on either side, I decided to make that the place to shoot from.Editing
I did some, but not a huge amount. If I recall correctly, I added a bit of saturation to make the color stand out with photoshop and used the feature on the raw file that recovers highlights to minimize any hot spots. In my camera bag
I have a totally different set up for this photo than what I have now.Feedback
Practice and be willing to take chances. Use a tripod, most definitely and a shutter bulb. Look for a something that can silhouette in the foreground. I used a pretty small aperature to try and increase the depth of field.
