I took this photo on top of " The Hump" in Indian Graves Provincial Campground; the winding road should only be conquered with a vehicle due to the steep incline! I am a local self taught photographer so every photo i capture has a special feeling behind it!Time
This is one of my favorite landscape photos; conveniently located on my wall in my house! This photo was taken when the sun was high in the sky, sometime around 2:00pm. The sun behind me and the glow over rolling hills made for a breathtaking memorable photo to last a lifetime!Lighting
My goal of this photo was to capture the ever changing colors, it's remarkable that the sun's position combined with the clouds would produce such vibrant colors that the average person would miss because of the location being so far away!Equipment
This was shot using my Nikon D7000 camera combined with 12-24mm f.4 with shutter speeds of 1/8000 hand held!Inspiration
I am in love with the outdoors i enjoy hiking and everything about it, i have no fear of heights or anything so any chance i get to capture something outstanding i find a way to get the best view. In all honestly at the top of "The Hump" in Indian Graves is not very much; what made this image jump out at me was the road, that you can see curving almost all the way down the hill. It made me think that, no road in life is straight, there is always obstacles and curves and that you should never give up on yourself or your goals and dreams; and simply that the road is endless!Editing
I had to do very little to this photo; i did have to brighten the exposure lightly and i brightened the rolling hills in the background to make them "pop" out. Everything else in the photo was help from mother nature herself! In my camera bag
The first thing i pack is most definitely my backpack, i conveniently have a Lowepro Flipside 400 however what is stored within it will leave you wondering how i pack it around so easily! I have my Nikon D7000 camera with a grip on it and it's typically equipped with a 50mm lens on it, i as well have a 70-300 VRll lens, 12-24mm wide angle lens (this shot was taken with it) a flash, remote, cleaning kit, a tripod.Feedback
Be patient, landscape photography doesn't come easy especially if mother nature is playing a role! You need to have the right gear with you, i do suggest that if you are out shooting in forever changing lighting to keep your ISO on auto, this way no matter what you're faced with, the image will be flawless. Be prepared for the diversity of landscapes, colors and situations and plan ahead if you do have a specific location in mind! A wide angle lens is ideal for landscapes as well it's actually a must, really. Depending what you are wanting to achieve remember not the shoot the subject of the photo straight on! Why? Because not everyone is going to look at it the same way you do, and that will turn people away, you know what the photo bring to you personally, but show the world to someone else! Be sure to have a good photo editing software; there is no shame in having to edit something, whether it's a small sign that's going to distrubt a photo or to brighten an area to add more "pop" to it. I personally use Lightroom to edit anything; it's convenient and user friendly for everyone! Don't forget to go out and have fun!
