The roseate spoonbill is one of my favorite birds to watch. The way it shovels for food and then rocks its head reminds me of Alice the Goon in the old Popeye cartoons. Male or female, all roseate spoonbills are forever "Alice" to me.

Bored while the adults were decorating for my son's wedding, one of our precious flower girls kept climbing into the window to watch for DART trains.

The little Mandarin duck at the pond seems to have moved on to explore new places but I still have hundreds of photos of him!

Taken with my iPhone so not one of my better shots but I do love that she enjoys my reading material.
