The photo was taken in my home.garden in delhi, india,by using only available natural light.Time
The image was shot in mid moonsoon season. On that day thick dark clouds were hovering all day long & at a cloudy noon when the lightning was most dramatic,i took this shot.It was taken in early 2011 and five years later it is still one of my best shot.Lighting
Back in 2011,I believed post processing as a sin,so i did my best to use all the available natural elements to get the desire effect in my photo.I wanted the viewer to admire the subtle beauty of the center of a rose, especially its stigma.I wanted this image to look a bit contrasty & a stop underexposed, which would a create a subtle vignette that would help to draw the viewer into the center of the flower, the thick cloud cover really helps to bring this effect to the image.Equipment
The image was shot on an entry level point and shoot i.e Fujifilm Finepix C20 with 3x optical zoom.To get this macro shot,i made my own custom macro lens using lenses of a binocular. It was probably the worst camera & lens that anyone can have for macro photography but it's not the camera it's the one behind the camera who makes a great photo.Inspiration
From a very small age,i get drawn to the breathtaking beauty of nature, not just in the majestic mountains & forest but also in the barren lands and empty skies.By watching documentaries like Planet Earth and reading magazines like National Geographic,I came to know how important it is to admire & document the beauty that is not going to last forever. It gave me a big boost of confidence and inspiration to capture what my eyes saw.Macro world is one of the very first things that got my interest. My intense curiosity helps me to observe & understand the infinite diversity & complexity of macro world. When you are shooting something you really care about, something that inspires you, then sometimes you have a moment & you get this feeling that everything is goona be alright. When you see your image on as big screen in all its glory, the moment you realize that you did capture what you wanted is an aesthetic moment. Its these moments that inspires me to capture my next best shot.Editing
I did some minor adjustments in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.6.In my camera bag
My Nikon P500 and Raynox DCR 250 macro conversion lens.Feedback
Always try to give your best in whatever scenario you are in.Most of us think that underexposed conditions and windy days are the worst time to shoot in macro but its not the case. These conditions will change your perspective, approach & challenge you to your very core, you will work twice as hard to get your shot & its this hard work which will get you the shot that very few of us try to capture by breaking all rules there is.By doing so you get a rare opportunity to explore the unexplored boundaries of macro photography.Never ever underestimate your gear,it has the potential to blow your mind.Put your heart and soul in your image and always hope that everything is going to be all right.
