It may look strange at first but it's just a mushroom growing on a wooden plank.Only the cap of the mushroom is visible in this photo,which has to be done to capture this strange looking texture & its all done by illumination it from the back..No fancy editing or special lighting is used here,this is how it will actually looked to the naked eye.For me it looks more like a flaming Iris of an alien or may be a bursting supernova,i leave the rest to your imagination
