I took this picture in my front yard!Time
This is easily one of my favorite macro images I've ever taken. I walked outside in the morning hoping to get a picture of my kids playing when I saw the sparkles on the grass and ran to grab my macro filters.Lighting
The lighting was all natural outside lighting. It was an overcast morning, but a bright overcast. Perfect to get the slight sparkle but not an overwhelming amount of light!Equipment
I used my canon 7d, 50mm 1.8 lens with a +4 macro filter on the front.Inspiration
It was a spur of the moment picture, but when the above picture didn't give the effect I wanted, I lowered my angle and got this! Perfection!Editing
Very minimal post processing. Mostly just highlight control and white balance. In my camera bag
My bag is always packed with my canon 7d camera, my sigma 30mm 1.4, my canon 50mm 1.8 and my canon 85mm 1.8. Also my macro filters, and speedlite are often in there too.Feedback
To try and get something similar, time of day is very important, also type of day. You don't want anything super bright, this way the sparkle of the dew drops really are the focal point. Get down low and shoot up. Don't be afraid to try different unusual angles and experiment. I took many angles before I got this one I loved, so play around!
