Location
These two pictures were taken at the Veterans Cemetery in Raleigh, North Carolina on Memorial Day 2013. These pictures were taken during the memorial service for veterans.Time
These pictures were taken during the noontime with full sun.Lighting
I did not use any artificial light on either of these picturesEquipment
I used a Sony A77 DSLR camera with a 55-200 mm F 4-5.6 lens. The image was shot at ISO 640 at f/32.0 at 55 mm and 1/160 sec using Aperture priority. No other equipment was used for this image.Inspiration
Originally this picture was taken as part of a class project to take images of different scenes. Being that this was done on Memorial Day I decided to go to the cemetery and see if there was anything going on. They had placed flags on each of the headstones for veterans. There was a memorial service going on. I took about 150 images of different scenes. It was not until I got home and begun working on images for submission that I decided to try an overlay to see what I could do.Editing
I took the image of the grave markers as the background layer. I took the picture of the flag and cropped it and adjusted the size so that they equivalent. I then took the flag and copied the image on a new layer of the gravestones. I then began to play with the transparency of the flag until it looked the way I wanted. I then flattened the layers and saved the image as a jpg.In my camera bag
I still have my original Sony A77 with a Quantaray 70-300 mm Tele macro lens, Sony 55-200 4-5.6, Sony 50 mm prime lens and a Konica Minolta 18-70mm macro lens. I have sense added a Sony A7 full frame camera with a Sony 55 mm 1.8 and Sony 28-70 3.5/5.6 lens. I also have a converter which allows me to use my A77 lens on my A7 (not full frame on these).Feedback
I will take many shots from different angles and distances. I then work with those combining the different images until I find something I like. I will play with tones and colors until I like what I see.
