Location
This photo was taken in the art room of a local hospice where the children were making art with leaves they had just collected. I was watching them make pictures arranging them and sticking them to paper.Time
It was mid-morning on a bright autumn day.Lighting
The art room had lots of windows, so the lighting was natural daylight. The desk was brightly lit by the window light but not in direct sunlight.Equipment
This was shot with my Canon EOS 600D and an 18-200mm zoom lens that I always carry with me because it's fairly compact, lightweight and has a reasonable zoom range for most occasions.Inspiration
I had my camera with me on that day and I was inspired by the colours and patterns that the leave made on the desk so I did a little arranging of my own.Editing
The only post-processing of this image was to crop off some distracting leaf patterns around the edges. Other than that, this was straight out of the camera. In my camera bag
I usually carry just the camera and lens, but I have a small kit bag that I use to keep a small selection of filters (circular polariser, 10-stop ND filter), a remote shutter release and a Speedlite flash. I also carry a 50mm prime lens because I like the bokeh that the large aperture gives.Feedback
Always carry your camera with you. You never know when you'll be inspired.
