"Glory be to God for dappled things . . . All things counter, original, spare, strange; / Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?) / With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim; / He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change: / Praise him." -- Gerard Manley Hopkins

Location
As I was leaving my neighborhood, heading for work, I saw several horses in a field by the roadside. I was struck by how beautiful this particular one was and wondered which one of my neighbors had such a horse and why it was running loose. I got out of my vehicle (grabbing my camera which I always have in the seat next to me) and started taking photos. I loved the fog in the background and tried to incorporate the tree as well into the composition. She was friendly, standing there while I photographed her, seeming to pose for me. She must have had quite an adventure already that morning judging from the state of her muddy coat and tangled mane :)Time
Early morning around 7:30 am.Lighting
Morning light is great, giving the atmosphere a soft touch.Equipment
I used a Nikon D90 camera with an 18-106mm AF-S NIKKOR lens. No tripod or flash.Inspiration
I have always loved horses. I couldn't just leave such a beautiful horse, motionless, without taking at least a few photos. I believe opportunities are presented but for a brief moment and it is up to ourselves to capture them.Editing

I carry cleaning cloths, spare SD cards, and another charged battery.Feedback
The best advice I have is to be ready when the moment presents itself. My camera is almost always within arms reach :)
