Location
This photo was taken from the road that ran in front of the house located in Kentucky.Time
The photo was taken after dark.Lighting
The front porch light was the only light on the scene and the fog captured the rays of light as it broke through the tree.Equipment
I used a Nikon D90 and an AF-S Nikkor 18-105mm 1:3.5-5.6G ED lens with a tripod. My settings: f4.8 aperture, 800 ISO, and 100/10 exposure.Inspiration
I loved how the broken light shone through the tree and was carried on the fog. I just had to attempt to capture it on camera... And...it was rather nostalgic as the occupant of the home (my brother) had left the light on for his wife who was arriving home later that night. It pulled on my heart strings and I just liked the photo and the story behind it.Editing
I don't remember doing any post-processing on this photo; just cropped it a bit.In my camera bag
I don't always carry a camera bag, but when I do there are several SD cards, a spare battery, and cleaning cloths tucked inside. That's about it other than my camera and lens.Feedback
The key to this one was the fog and the fact it was taken where the nights are dark (no street lights, etc.). The tripod is a necessity because of the low light and slow exposure time.
