This gentleman was in some deep contemplation as I was watching him for a bit wondering what he was contemplating. We all have different coping mechanisms and how we deal with situations in our lives.
I was walking through the Venice Beach boardwalk wondering what each person was all about. It occurred to me that many people will think that those that are out there outwardly appearing to be homeless and down on their luck are there out of necessity, however I have talked to many over the years that are there because they just want to be.
We make many moves and relocation's through our lives due to jobs-family-circumstances and it is no different for those that are are out there. Some people are there because that has become all of those and it is now their source of income, their family and the circumstances that got them there are many. Let me reassure you though that I've talked to many intellectuals over time that have more to say than some I've had conversations with in the corporate world, however they just happen to live on the streets.
One never knows the complete situation that put those people where they are or if indeed they just want to be there. Of course most of them would probably choose the comfort of a roof over their head given the chance.
I can feel for those that are all out there as this economy is testing many in this country and world at the moment. I can tell you firsthand that it isn't necessarily that someone is there because they are lazy, drunk or hooked on drugs. I think most people that know me personally would consider me a very hard working man and always have been, yet this economy has kept me in search of work for almost 7 months. As the saying goes "never judge a book by it's cover"
