Location
This photo was taken in Jackson County, Minnesota.Time
The haze is actually smoke from wildfires in Colorado that blew across the midwest. This was at sunset, when the smoke made it look like it was an orange filter across the sky.Lighting
There was no custom lighting; this is all mother nature. :)Equipment
Nikon D600 or D800 (don't have the EXiF to verify right now), with a 28-70 f2.8 lens.Inspiration
I was just arriving back to my in-laws after being out photographing the countryside all afternoon. As I was about to turn into the driveway, I looked towards the west and saw the rows of soybeans and the setting sun.Editing
I did do some adjustments in Camera RAW, but this is originally a single RAW file.In my camera bag
I usually have one of my two digital SLR bodies, and my Nikon F100 film body. I'll toss in the Tokina 16-28 f2.8 lens for wide angles, and the Nikon 28-70 2.8 for other shots. Sometimes I'll have the 85mm 1.4 with me for detail shots.Feedback
I spend a lot of time behind the wheel, just driving around looking for the right scene. Sunrise and sunset are great times to go for a drive with your gear to see what you can find.
