Location
This photo was taken from behind a tidal pool on the beach at White Rock BC Canada. There are many photo ops at this beach as it is very popular.Time
The photo was taken at 5:30 pm on Jan 13 2015. Mid winter in this area is very mild and the temp was about 7 degrees celsius.Lighting
I was waiting for the sunset and had taken a great many pics already and had my camera on a tripod all lined up and then I saw this dog and timed the pic so that he would be highlighted.Equipment
Nikon D7000 with an 18-200 f3. The iso was set at 200. I used a tripod and cable release. The exposure was 180 @ 6.7 and the flash did not fire.Inspiration
I could see earlier in the day that there may be a good sunset. It was warm and fairly clear with some clouds. There were many people at the beach and i was inspired by the people enjoying the beach and tried to capture that feeling.Editing
In lightroom I adjusted for white balance, took down the highlights and increased the contrast. In my camera bag
Normally i take my Nikon D7000, 18-200mm, 50mm prime, tripod and cable release.Feedback
The south coast of British Columbia has a wide variety of weather and can change by the minute. The most important thing to do is to plan for a specific shot while taking other photos and be ready when the moment arrives. I got lucky with this picture but improved my luck by being ready and prepared.
