Behind The Lens

Location

My late husband and I were on a cruise, our ship was sitting at the dock as we approached her. The closer I got the bigger she became, it was at that moment I decided to snap the photo just to see what I would get. She was a beautiful ship and when I downloaded it to my computer I was amazed at the shot. The lighting was perfect - the water was perfect and she was perfect. We were in the Carribbean at St Marteen.

Time

It was late in the afternoon around 4:00pm just as the sun was setting. Everything was perfectly still.

Lighting

The only lighting that was used on this shot was the natural lighting from the sun. The sun was in a perfect position

Equipment

I used a Sony digital one of the newer ones that used to be Minolata, I used a 35mm lens no tripod, no flash. It was just the camera, the ship, and my eye.

Inspiration

As I looked at this magnificent ship I knew I would never be in this place, with this view again. I wanted to keep this vision of this ship and all of her beauty alive. I see a story in everything and she has a story. I am just not sure what it is yet.

Editing

All I did was in the post processing was to sharpen the image just a little in order to capture all of the details

In my camera bag

I have my Sony, my Canon, several filters, several lens, two tripods, several batteries, several disks, several extra rings, various odds and ends and I also have my video camera and all of its accessories

Feedback

The only advice I can give is to always have your eyes open always have a camera handy and always see things thru your eyes like you might see them through a lens- never miss an opprotunity because you never get it back.
