Awesome congratulations. The water looks so creamy :) Did you add teal to the water which makes the shot or was it just a little enhanced? Really nice out come what ever you did.

Thank you Robin, I added some contrast which really brought out the color in lightroom

Excellent! You managed to keep the subtle changes in the white tones without blowing it out!

Location
I took this photo on the north shore of Oahu where I live. The waves get really big here in the winter and sometimes if we are lucky into the spring.Time
I got up early to shoot on this day because the surf report was calling for 40 foot waves.Lighting
I am constantly changing my settings because the light is always changing. After waiting for the passing clouds I was happy that the low angle of the morning sun was lighting up the face of this wave.Equipment
I use a Canon 7D with the zoom lens, Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens. I almost always use a tripod, set up well behind the high tide line to be safe from the 40 foot high waves. I wanted to try something different on this day so I took the camera off the tripod and literally ran up to the water line before this huge wave broke. I wanted a low angle so I squatted down as low as I could and snapped this shot, got up, turned around and ran as fast as I could to get away from the oncoming wave. I do not have water housing so It was a pretty risky thing to do on my part. I make it without getting soaked!Inspiration
I find the Ocean to be mesmerizing and could watch it all day long. The motion, colors and the changing light make for an always changing subject matter. The size of the waves here on the north shore make it even better.Editing
Using lightroom I increased the contrast, lowered the highlights and darkened the exposure a bit.In my camera bag
I have to be able to run at a moments notice so I travel as light as possible. Just my Canon 7D and a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens. I have recently been using a canon 300mm prime lens and I like the reach I get with it as well.Feedback
Check the surf and tide report before going out to shoot. Always keep an eye on the Ocean, never turn your back to it unless you are running away. Use a big zoom and think about composition before pressing the button.
