Behind The Lens
Location
Returning from a long day of exploring back roads in the Colorado Rockies, we were wondering if this dirt miner’s road through Phantom Canyon was going to peter out wham we came to this tunnel. We later learned it was hand-hewn by 19th century miners to accommodate a narrow-gauge train. We stopped before entering to allow a group of cows to proceed ahead of us. They never turned to look at us until this last one, about to follow her troop into the brush, turned to look.Time
This was late afternoon.Lighting
The lighting is natural ambient with the reflections into the tunnel illuminating some of the darkness.Equipment
The camera was my Olympus OM-D EM-1 With a 11-42mm lens. I actually stick it out the open sunroof upside down to get the shot without frightening the cow.Inspiration
Any photographer seeing a cow in a tunnel would have done the same thing, right?Editing
Slight crop and change to b/w.In my camera bag
The Oly mentioned above with the 12-42 wide zoom, a 300 mm and a Sony P/S. A tripod and a strobe.Feedback
Follow roads you’ve never been down (or up).
