Location
The photo was taken at Zourva gorge, on western Crete, on a mountain range, on the prefecture of Chania, near the village of Therisso, during a 3 hour mountain hike.Time
The photo was taken around 1am, on a cloudy day. It's a hand-shot I took, while going up the mountain.Lighting
I wanted this photo to look more underexposed than what the actual lighting conditions were.I tried to give the clouds a more atmospheric look and exaggerate the light which was falling on the mountain.Equipment
That was a shot using my Canon 500D, with the standard 18-55 IS kit lens.Inspiration
The photo was rather based on impulse, rather than inspiration. As I mostly use tele-lenses for fast moving scenes, such as theater shots and wild life, I usually catch the subject quick enough, make the appropriate settings and shoot. What actually made me take this shot was the light which was piercing through the clouds, down to the mountain, just for a couple of minutes.Editing
The photo has zero post-processing effects. I have used no filters; just manipulated the settings out of the RAW file. The photo is an HDR, composed out of 5 variants I made, using a single shot.In my camera bag
I usually carry around my Canon 500D, with my 50mm prime and my 55-250 tele-lens. I especially like the tele-lens, because it is small factor and fast to use, fit exactly for the type of photography I make, trying to focus fast on objects and scenes which may change in the blink of an eye.Feedback
Just watch out for those special moments and seize them, as fast and as well as you can. Open eyes and experienced fingers.
