Location
I took this shot right from my bedroom 2 pane window, as I have with about 3/4 of my shots. I taught myself to take them after building myself a bird attracting area. And with different types of food there has hundreds and hundreds have shown up and I capture them in a natural looking area. Ive had to do it this way due to severe health issues, no need to go into that.Time
This picture was absolutely cool to capture because as I sat at the window I saw him land and then immediately turn and looked at me right at the perfect time with the midday sun shining right on him.Lighting
There's really nothing special about the lighting on this capture because it was just the right time of the day. I knew to be watching at that time of the day because as the day grew longer our house shades my bird area.Equipment
I took this with my Nikon D5300 and used my workhorse 55-200mm lens. No need for anything else.Inspiration
I was lucky to have a couple of males and female Bluebirds, so I was ready for them to come eat especially at this time of day. And I realized that they knew that I was at the window, so I was hoping to catch one of them doing something comical or interesting.Editing
No... as I have taught myself to take pictures, I learned eary on that having to edit all your shots takes too long and aggravating. So I really worked on learning how to set my camera for the conditions, which you can't always do so I may do some of the basic Windows 10 touch-ups, but in this capture I didn't have to use anything. In my camera bag
First thing I pack is my camera I told you I use and the same lens, then I always have my 18-55mm lens, a must for some wider angled shots. And depending on where I'm going, I will carry my 70-300mm lens, hoping to get that bird just out of reach of my 55-200mm lens. Of course some lens cleaners since I'm notorious for touching the lens. And my hoods for each lens.Feedback
First and foremost I would say, you have to know your camera and your lenses and how they work. Watch videos or read and take reminder notes like I did. But you must be able to set your camera to the conditions you are in and the distance you're at. The next 3 things that is vital to taking pictures of ANYTHING.... patience patience patience!!!!! And you have to love what you're trying to capture or it will just drag you down. And don't be afraid to try something new, but the number one thing is to have FUN FUN FUN!!!! Happy Snapping Everyone!!! ????????????
