Behind The Lens

Location

This Male Bluebird perched himself right outside my bedroom window and I grabbed my camera and took this shot because he sure didn't stay there long. I take pictures of a lot of stuff just to learn more and more about my camera and lighting, everything, since I'm self-taught I take every chance I can get. I am truly a bird lover though.

Time

I just had came into my room for a moment and had been looking outside. At this time in mid afternoon I just got lucky I was keeping my camera close, so I grabbed it and took this out my bedroom window.

Lighting

I am sorry to have so little to say about this because it was mid afternoon in Tennessee about 1 or 2 o'clock and the sun was out.

Equipment

What has become my workhorse camera and lens, which is my Nikon D5300 and the lens I use the most is a NIKKOR D55-200 ED DX . I really do love this combo for many of my bird shots. Of course from time to time you need more or even less length of range for certain shots.

Inspiration

I went through several surgeries so right before I went I built myself a real life area that looks like it's out in the woods, so I took many pictures right there out my window!!!! So I decided to leave that area and once I was well I would often capture quick shots.....like this one!!!!

Editing

I use the post processing that you go through in Windows, if that's what you call that. As I was teaching myself I made myself catch the pictures by adjusting my camera. For one it's better for you as a photographer and you don't HAVE to go go back and fix anything at all, just put my name on them, some I forgot...lol

In my camera bag

I put my camera and depending on what I'm going to go take pictures of, but most always 2 lenses And you have to have some lens cleaners, extra lens caps in case you lose one, and of course extra batteries.

Feedback

Well I don't know which states have Bluebirds, but for backyard birds in general the very most important thing of taking pictures of birds, but really most all animals, it is patience!!!!! And to watch your species and get a very good idea of what they do and their habits, unless it's like this shot I got I got lucky and just walked up as he was standing there. And yes a lot of your pictures are going to be just down right luck!!! But if you're using something with a delete button is a good idea. Make sure you learn and know your camera and how to adjust the ISO and everything!!!! That will help you with ANYTHING your taking pictures. Pull up your camera on UTube and learn about your camera. And then learn about the 3 major things to know about taking pictures and read several places or watch. But read everything it's more likely to remember than watching, and hey....I took notes.
